Youth at a Glance

Youth Week

Youth Week is an international celebration of youth held annually during the first week of May.

It is a week of fun, interaction, and celebration intended to build a strong connection between young people and their communities and to profile the accomplishments and diversity of youth. Youth Week events in West Vancouver typically consist of a variety of events designed to showcase, entertain, and empower youth in our community.

Visit our website for up-to-date information on events and activities planned for West Vancouver’s 2019 Youth Week celebrations.

But here is a sneak peek of what’s to come (dates and activities subject to change):

  • April 30   Join us at the start of Youth Week for Give Me Five, an innovative youth-led event that provides an opportunity for local preteens in grade seven to showcase their leadership, project management and public speaking skills through the development of an ideas exhibition.
  • May 2   Join members of the District of West Vancouver’s various Youth Committees, members of the West Vancouver Police Department and Youth Services staff on the Great Lawn at the West Vancouver Community Centre for a community water gun fight followed by a free BBQ, games and prizes in the Youth Lounge.
  • May 3   Join the Whatever Youth Committee at the West Vancouver Community Centre for a night of free and fun rec activities for LGBTQ+ youth and their allies!
  • May 4   Come and celebrate the spirit of Youth Week with a free BBQ in the Youth Lounge at the West Vancouver Community Centre. Come for the food, stay for the door prizes and good company!
  • May 6   The 18th annual Youth Appreciation Awards and Youth Council will both inspire and impress you. Come and meet some of our community’s amazing youth!
